Action medics are volunteers with varying levels of training, skills, and experience - ranging from basic first aid to full time practice in acute medicine across different specialities. The empahsis is to provide a solid basis for first aid and self-care with a focus on protest and direct action scenarios. With this in mind, training and experience goes beyond basic first aid to include other areas such as public health and chemical weapons. The UK Action Medic Network have minimum standards for who can call themselves an Action Medic.
We're an informal bunch of people that first came together in July 2009 when some of the lovely people from the UK Action Medic Network came to Oxford to train us. Following the training, we decided to keep in touch to arrange skill-share workshops and organise providing medic support at demos & other activist events. We're not all Action Medics, but we are working towards it.
There are a few different ways you can get involved or support us to provide medic support to activists.
You can use our contact form to send a message to all of use (e.g. if you want to request medics support).
We keep in touch with each other using a mailing list, which is open for anybody to join.
